The bank already pulled the money and started the clock. That’s how every chargeback begins: the funds are gone before you’ve read the email, a deadline is running, and the dispute is lost by default unless you answer it. Merchants don’t win chargebacks with outrage — they win them with fast, complete, factual chargeback evidence. So we built an agent that compiles the evidence file the moment the dispute opens, and puts it in front of you long before the deadline.
Watch it run on a live Shopify store:
What happens in the demo
A dispute webhook fires from Shopify — a chargeback has just been opened. The Dispute Evidence Desk agent wakes up and gets to work:
- It verifies the dispute against Shopify’s own records — the order, the payment, the actual dispute record with its network reason code and due date. These queries pause for your one-click sign-off before they run, so you always know what the agent is reading and why.
- It pulls the fulfillment proof: carrier, shipped dates, and the DHL tracking numbers that show the package moving — because delivery confirmation is the single strongest piece of chargeback evidence there is.
- It assembles the customer history: past orders, total spend, account age, support contacts, and any prior disputes it remembers for this customer.
- Then it delivers one clean representment file — deadline on top, everything a bank reviewer needs underneath.
Mapped to the code banks actually adjudicate by
Here’s the part most merchants miss: a bank reviewer doesn’t read your dispute response like a story. They check it against a network reason code — product not received, fraudulent, product unacceptable — and look for the specific evidence that answers that specific code.
So the agent doesn’t just dump data. It maps every piece of evidence to the reason the customer’s bank gave. A product_not_received dispute gets answered with “tracking shows delivered on this date, to an address matching the order.” And it flags the weak spots honestly too — missing tracking, an address mismatch, a support complaint that went unanswered — because you should know where your case is soft before the bank tells you.
Where proof is missing, it says NOT IN DATA
This is the rule we’re proudest of. If a fact isn’t in your store’s records, the agent writes NOT IN DATA — it does not invent it. A plausible-sounding fabricated claim in a dispute response isn’t a small mistake; it’s catastrophic. It can sink the dispute and damage your standing with the payment network.
An evidence file you can’t trust is worse than no evidence file at all. This one only contains what your data actually shows — which means you can submit it with your name on it.
Guardrails, by design
The Dispute Evidence Desk follows the same rule as everything in datavessel: you stay in command.
- It reads; you decide. The agent compiles the package — it doesn’t submit the dispute. You review the file and file the response.
- It never contacts the customer. Reaching out about an open dispute is a decision for you, not an automation.
- Deep queries pause for sign-off. Direct queries into your Shopify records wait for your approval, batched and justified in one line each.
- One package per dispute. The agent remembers what it has already delivered, so a re-fired webhook doesn’t produce duplicate work — and a repeat disputer’s history is right there next time.
Why the speed matters
Chargebacks run on the bank’s clock, not yours. The evidence window is fixed, and every day you spend hunting through order screens, carrier portals, and email threads is a day closer to losing by forfeit. The point of this agent isn’t just that the file is thorough — it’s that the file exists before you’ve opened the email, with the deadline printed on top. Your job shrinks from “reconstruct everything” to “review and submit.”
See it, then point it at your store
This demo is live on our See it in action page, alongside the Order Desk demos on Shopify and WooCommerce. When you’re ready, connect your Shopify store and the Dispute Evidence Desk is one of the prebuilt agents waiting — the next chargeback that lands will be met with a file, not a scramble.
The bank starts the clock. Your agent beats it.
